Statement

I use sculpture, installation, drawing, and video to explore the idea of “objectification.” The term “objectification” is most commonly used to refer to viewing women’s bodies as merely sexual objects, but I am also interested in the way western philosophies and religions have contributed to this abuse by viewing the body as vessel rather than person. In order to provide a critique of those positions, I create distorted, organic forms that relate to the image of the human body;, distilling the body to its defining essentials.
